Thomas Alvarez agrees with Nationals

After a productive DPL regular season Thomas Alvarez proved he was ready for professional baseball. Alvarez who grew up in New York decided 2 years ago to return to his native land in the Dominican Republic in search of a professional contract. He found his way to San Cristobal where he worked out with notable trainer Basilio Vizcaino. The Middle infielder is a solid hitter gap to gap with athletic ability and defensive versatility. Nats scouts followed his progress during the season and where amazed no other team offered him a contract as they pursed to reach an agreement @ $40,000. Alvarez will start his pro career in the rookie level Dominican Summer League. Congratulations to Thomas Alvarez, Basilio Vizcaino and the Washington Nationals.
