EIGHT DPL Alumni selected to MWL and FSL All-Star Game

EIGHT DPL ALUMNI SELECTED TO 2015 MIDWEST AND FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE ALL-STAR ROSTERS  In exciting news, eight Dominican Prospect League alumni have been selected to their respective league All-Star Games. In the Midwest League, Natanael Delgado (Burlington Bees) has hit to the tune of a .275/.314/.404 slash line with a .717 OPS. He has three homeruns, three triples, and seven doubles. Yairo Munoz (Beloit Snappers) has an impressive .278/.311/.439 slash line with a .750 OPS. Munoz has knocked out seven homeruns and has 31 RBI to go along with six stolen bases on the year. Felix Jorge (Cedar Rapids Kernals) has dominated the Midwest League, pitching to a 3-2 record, 2.62 ERA and a measly 0.98 WHIP. Richard Urena living up to July 2 expectations

Richard Ureña was raised in the northern region of the Dominican Republic in San Francisco de Macoris, he was scouted by notable trainer  Decarte Corporan and was taken to his installation in San Pedro de Macoris (which is in the eastern region).  He began the DPL season in November 2011 and immediately placed himself on the map as one the best infielders on the island. Richard took part in the PG National showcase  in May 2012 where he ran 6.9, showed superb defensive skills and 92-mph arm strength across the diamond. Richard Urena forecasting to be a breakout Prospect in 2014 by BA

Baseball America / Ben Badler Richard Urena, ss, Blue Jays: Urena was one of the hot names on the international market in 2012, when he signed with the Blue Jays for $725,000 out of the Dominican Republic. He’s been what the Blue Jays expected, with an advanced bat for his age and the skills to stick at shortstop. Urena doesn’t have flashy tools, but he has a high baseball IQ, a patient approach and a line-drive stroke with occasional gap power. He has a strong arm to go with good hands and nice footwork at shortstop. With Barreto at shortstop in the GCL last year, the Blue Jays kept Urena in the DSL most of the year before bringing him over at the end of the season, but he should make a louder impression in the U.S.… Read More
