EIGHT DPL Alumni selected to MWL and FSL All-Star Game

EIGHT DPL ALUMNI SELECTED TO 2015 MIDWEST AND FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE ALL-STAR ROSTERS  In exciting news, eight Dominican Prospect League alumni have been selected to their respective league All-Star Games. In the Midwest League, Natanael Delgado (Burlington Bees) has hit to the tune of a .275/.314/.404 slash line with a .717 OPS. He has three homeruns, three triples, and seven doubles. Yairo Munoz (Beloit Snappers) has an impressive .278/.311/.439 slash line with a .750 OPS. Munoz has knocked out seven homeruns and has 31 RBI to go along with six stolen bases on the year. Felix Jorge (Cedar Rapids Kernals) has dominated the Midwest League, pitching to a 3-2 record, 2.62 ERA and a measly 0.98 WHIP. Rafael DePaula makes his Padres debut after trade by Yankees

While it was Chase Headley whose move garnered most of the headlines in this week’s Padres-Yankees trade, Rafael De Paula made his name known on Saturday night. De Paula allowed one hit — a solo homer — over six innings in his San Diego organizational debut as Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore held off visiting Bakersfield, 3-1. “He was calm, cool and collected,” Storm pitching coach Bronswell Patrick said of the newest addition to his rotation. “He was ready to go. He threw a bullpen the first day he got here and he was ready to go tonight. He showed it. Dominicans in the $240 Million plus Club

Mariners sign Robinson Cano to 10-year, $240 million deal   December 6, 2013, 1:00 pm CHASE HUGHES / CSNWASHINGTON.com The Seattle Mariners have pulled off quite the shocker, reeling in All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano with a ten-year deal worth $240 million. The contract matches the one Albert Pujols signed with the Angels in December of 2008, the third largest in major league history. Letting free agents walk, especially players of the caliber of Cano, hasn’t exactly been the Yankees’ M.O. over the years. They set a maximum offer at $200 million and apparently didn’t budge when Cano and his agent Jay-Z demanded more. DPL Pre-Thanksgiving Tournament

The Dominican Prospect League is proud to announce the DPL Pre-Thanksgiving tournament scheduled at the New York Yankees complex in Boca-Chica on November 18th – 22nd Last season’s event was successful in aiding approximately 10 prospects to sign professional contracts during the tournament, most notable Willy Garcia-RHP with the Arizona Diamond Backs and Michael DelaCruz-C with the Toronto Bluejays. Both prospects were eligible players looking for a chance to start their professional careers and made the best of their opportunity in front of more than 150 scouts on hand. Delacruz hit a two run Home run and shut down the running game of opposing teams. Garcia showed a live fastball at 90-92 with a feel for a Changeup and an average Curveball.… Read More

The New York Yankees acquire Leonardo Molina

  August 1st 2013 Leonardo Molina, 6’2”, 175lb, R/R, 8/1/97, San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic Molina developed with trainer Decarte Corporan in San Pedro de Macoris Dominican Republic. Decarte has a good track record developing young prospects including Molina´s cousin Richard Urena who signed with the Toronto BlueJays in 2012 as well as MLB players the likes of Jordany Valdespin-NYM and Alex Colome-TBR Leonardo shows signs of being an impact player at the Major League level with five tool potential and he just turned 16.
