Showcase Day Three Recap

Game 1 The first game of the day was started off with Nelfy Abreu demonstrating his offensive abilities by driving a double into left before stealing third.  Imanol Marinez followed Abreu in the lineup and although he grounded out to third it was enough to allow the plus runner in Abreu to score giving Blue an early 1-0 lead.  The next run of the game would cross the plate in the bottom half of the second when Osvaldo Guerrero would absolutely punish a ball and send it flying out in left-center, tying the game at one apiece. Neither team would manage anything in the third.  Then in the top of the fourth Eddys Leonard reached on a single to start the inning and advanced on consecutive Santana and Abreu groundouts.  He would manage to score and give Blue the lead on an error by the left fielder on a ball George Valera placed into play.  The game went quiet from that point until the top of the 6th when Blue started to heat up.  They managed one more when Carlos Sanchez singled, stole second, advanced to third on a Pedro Sanchez groundout, and scored on a Johansel Pontiel RBI single into center.… Read More

Showcase Day Two Recap

Game 1 Game one once again featured the red team taking on the blue team but the players today were completely different players than yesterday.  The game started out slow with neither team getting on the board through the first two innings of play.  Then in inning three the blue team got the scoring started.  Darling Florentino singled and then proceeded to steal both second & third before being knocked in by a Casimiro Fernandez RBI single into CF, giving them a 1-0 lead.  However, this woke up the red team up who proceeded to score three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.  Ruben Maldonado got red started with a single and a stolen base which made scoring really easy when Joswel Soriano ripped a double into left.  The next batter was Perez who would reach on an E-6 that moved Soriano to third, this was followed by a Jeurys Espinal RBI single into right-center, giving Red a 2-1 lead.  Their final run of the inning was plated by lead-off man Jose Rodriguez when he put one into right for a RBI single, 3-1 Red.… Read More

Red then came back to the plate in the top of the second and responded scoring two more as Neify Marinez hit a single into center and immediately stole second which allowed him to score as he was followed by a Felix Reyes single also into center.  Reyes came around to score on that same play as an error resulted in the ball ending up in CF.  The bats then quieted down until the bottom of the third when Blue managed to tie it up at four on a 3-run blast to left by Junior Santana that also scored Widimer Joaquin and Jery Hernandez, who reached respectively on a passed ball strike 3 and an error by the first baseman.  Later in the game Red would sneak Oliver Moreno across to retake the lead, 5-4.  Unfortunately, for Red that would not last long as Blue would win in walk-off fashion by a score of 6-5.… Read More
