Yimmelvyn Alonzo signs with Texas

  Short stop Yimmelvyn Alonzo trained with Edwin Sabater in Santo Domingo. Sabater also trained Redsox prospect and DPL alumni Simon Mercedes-RHP. Alonzo, 16, stands out for his strength and plus raw power from the right side. Yimmelvyn is an aggressive hitter in the box with tendency to be a free swinger. During his time in the DPL he showed the tools in game situation and attracted the scouts for his power potential. During  the Dominican Prospect League-Perfect Game International Series in June, when he went 3-for-7 with a triple and a walk. Defensivly Alonzo can field cleanly and shows actions but has limited range. As he grows into his frame he may need to make the transition to 3B in the future.… Read More

Cuban OF Reydel Medina signs with the REDS

The Cincinnati Reds acquire Cuban outfielder Raydel Medina. Medina defected in 2011 from Cuba and entered the Hispaniola Island via Haiti where he established Haitian residence. He played in various International tournaments while on the Cuban Junior National team, most notably in Venezuela and China between 2003-2009. Medina was born February 14, 1993, is 6´2¨ and 198lb. There isn´t much physical projection in the 20 yr. old, he has a muscular toned well-proportioned mature body. He trained in Santiago at the Mikalo Bermudez Baseball Complex with Aldo Marrero who also signed catcher Onil Peña on July 2nd this year with the Seattle Mariners for $385,000.
